Fly Paper at The Foundry
Wednesday, May 21, 2014
Brought to you by The Grand County Blues Society
With soulful vocals, fiercely elegant guitars, and a high energy rhythm section, Fly Paper never fail to amaze and inspire crowds throughout the country with their original songs. Micaela's voice is often compared to that of Fiona Apple and Norah Jones. Her guitar playing carries on the traditions of Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmore, and Jimmy Page. Bassist Joe Chamberlin fills the space between with a modern rock style grounded in classic rock sensibilities. Sam Rice brings to the drums, the rock groove of Jimmy Chamberlin and the flair of Buddy Rich, while Saxman/Keyboardist Marty McLean puts the sax back in rock one note at a time. The four piece band fuses elements of rock, folk, and blues into an unforgettable musical experience. With catchy songs, command of their instruments, and a powerful stage presence, Fly Paper will be remembered long after the stage lights go out!

Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday Celebration starring Samantha Fish & Deanna Bogart at Smokin’ Moe’s
Tuesday, March 4, 2014

Brought to you by The Grand County Blues Society
Samantha Fish recalls her first musical taste as the classic rock of The Rolling Stones and Tom Petty, alongside contemporary artists like Sheryl Crow and The Black Crowes, but after several underage clandestine visits to the Knuckleheads Saloon blues club in her native Kansas City, she followed the thread from modern masters like Zito and Tab Benoit, through fallen ’80s heroes like Stevie Ray Vaughan, right back to the pre-war Delta masters. “I fell in love with it,” she told Premier Guitar of her growing passion for the form, “and started doing my homework by listening to the old guys like Son House and Skip James.”

• • • • • • • •

Born in Detroit, Deanna Bogart spent her early years in Phoenix and New York City, climbing on any available piano bench to plunk and play with preternatural panache. Around the age of six,  she was "gently removed" from the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music for playing piano by ear instead of learning to read music. While in middle school, Deanna yearned to play the saxophone. Typical of those times though, she was told, "Girls play the clarinet, not the sax." Thankfully for us all, that tide has changed.

Today, Deanna is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist and multi-faceted musician whose fans value the diversity of her genre-free zone. As a bandleader/ singer/ songwriter/ producer/ pianist/ sax player, Deanna combines the best of boogie-woogie, contemporary blues, country and jazz into a splendid blend she calls “blusion.” Don't miss out as Deanna joins Samantha for this one-night-only performance and Mardi Gras party!

Kara Grainger at Smokin’ Moe’s
Friday, December 13, 2013

Brought to you by The Grand County Blues Society
A native of Australia, Kara Grainger draws inspiration from the blues of America. On Shiver & Sigh, her third solo album, the guitarist and singer/songwriter also incorporates elements of rhythm and blues and soul music in the mix.

This past summer you may have caught her set at
Blues From The Top, when she wowed the crowd with her impressive vocal chops and tasty guitar playing. Don’t miss Kara during her return to Winter Park!

“For my money, something in Grainger's passionate performance reached out through the door, grabbed people by the figurative scruff of the neck, and propelled them inside.” - John T. Davis, SXSW

“What an amazing talent she is. The Australian born singer/songwriter has been cranking out her soulful blend of blues and folk for several years and is just now starting to receive some long overdue acclaim here in the States... She plays with passion and grace...This is someone you're going to hear a lot about.” - Vinylpile

Littlewolf at Smokin’ Moe’s
April 19, 2013
LITTLEWOLF fashions a unique, dynamic roots/blues/rock explosion: a fusion of Steve Lott’s 35 years of experience and Kristi Clanton’s youthful exuberance. Bred in West Texas, Steve Lott is is one of the principle singer/writer/ guitarists in the band. Lott has toured the world extensively and released two award-winning albums in Australia in 1999 and 2001. Just last year, his compilation CD “Blues from Down Under” was #13 on the Living Blues Australian Radio Chart.

Kristi Bess Clanton, the other principle singer/writer/guitarist has been a singing star since childhood in Texas. She has blossomed into a great slide-steel guitarist and songwriter. At 22-years, she can handle anything from a traditional blues shout to a heart- breaking ballad.

Tough as overdue rent or smooth as 20-year-old bourbon… she can kill you with one note. This Texas Blues sensation was well received on their tour Down Under (May & June of 2012). The tour began with the Blues at Broadbeach festival, one of Australia’s iconic blues fests. The band made additional appearances in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria. In the fall of 2012, LITTLEWOLF was a part of the Brother’s & Sister’s Americana Tour of New England. The band played venues and events like the famous Bull Run in Shirley, MA and the Wormtown Brew Fest among many others. They shot four live, in-studio performances for Alternate Root TV and LITTLEWOLF was the featured album for the month of October 2012 on Carter Allen's “Sunday Morning Blues" on WZLX-FM in Boston.
